PS
It's the few images I have of the actual work, the linoleum cut is still posted up in my apartment dying to have more questions and ideas pushed into it (and also to become a larger scale). I do need a second photograph of it since it is FAR lighter now due to overly carving into some of the more important features.

Long past due.
So since Ireland I've been either working overtime hours, violently ill, without internet connection or setting up a show. I'm still working overtime, probably have an ear infection, no internet and now finally able to set up my studio/apartment the way it NEEDS to be for me to fully begin working the way I've wanted to. Purchasing my craft station will be my next goal since I have all my supplies: the ideas haven't really been coming with all this excess BS happening lately.

a hot mess
What I need is a single day to just wrap my head around everything I've experienced in the past eight weeks just to reflect. I still find it pretty bad when even Paul says we all came back just a giant mess; how do you handle that?
I'll edit this tomorrow to add more depth.

crunch time
I'm not sure how I feel about this being my final week. The stress level is at an all time high right now and I literally feel sick to my stomach over how half of my projects are still in the infancy state or how complicated I've decided to make things.
The linoleum cut still has more area left in it for me to carve and it's been a steady, oh 4 days? of working into it and there is still far too much detail in it. I hate the large rabbit I'm doing, I only like its cheeks and nose right now--I can't decide whether or not to just build it then add a face or say fuck it and hand paint most of it instead of gluing/sewing the details on. Then the multiples (bunnies) are still far too scarce to consider them copious.
I'm just disgusted with the time management I've been able to sustain out here for my studio practice, probably more so over all the readings I've been doing that just seems like busy work to me. I need something more challenging right now in the readings, I knew I should have brought that Nicholas Bourriaud book or bought that Philip Guston memoir. I just need some time to myself and I miss that, but it will happen soon enough. Right now I'm trying to get back into the Philadelphia mindset and am thinking about actually doing the sketchbook project again... Nighttime Stories has caught my attention. We'll see though. I'll try to upload some images soon, who knows if it will happen before I leave.

past work
I decided to post up some of my PAST work from before the Spring 2010 semester, I'm still missing pictures of my box and finished book but this is what I've done so far that relates to my current process.

The ocean breathes salty, won't you carry it in?
So today I think I realized how much I let little things hold me back (not just today but recently I've been examining quite a few things that are keeping me from doing what I need to do) and I need to let go a little bit more. There was a group trip today to Richard Long's Circle near the Cliffs of Moher and I just couldn't get over the fact that I was frightened of the water and height of the rocks. I need to really get over some of my fears and just push through things so I can get somewhere. I forgot my camera cord today so it's a no go on pictures of what I've been doing so far.
I did steal a fantastic picture that Laura took while we were in County Galway waiting for the bus. There are tons of pictures I've taken I need to bust out my other CF card or empty the memory pretty soon. I don't get how I filled it up already at only 596 pictures. Right now, I have two (or three?) main ideas going on for the rest of my time in the Burren:
1. Sheela na gig/nun linoleum cut prints
2. foreigner series/installation
I'm gaining so much more information and ways of looking at things around me that it the ideas are coming together, but at the same time needing more time to germinate which I can't afford right now. I've mostly tried to do as much research in the shortest amount of time as possible, and from this I've learned all about the sheela na gig (thanks to Tim Jones of course first and foremost) and have further researched her to find a greater connection to my past work with the nuns and my current work of myself to mesh these ideas together. I'll be posting more on all of this tomorrow once I can find my mind to type it all up and not be exhausted by everything right now.
